The Government of Canada has introduced a pathway for refugee resettlement through the Sponsorship of Refugees Program. This unique program allows private citizens to directly assist refugees in resettling in Canada. However, it’s important to note that being sponsored does not guarantee acceptance as a refugee or permission to come to Canada. The sponsorship simply ensures that a Canadian visa officer will consider the case.
To begin the resettlement process, refugees need to identify themselves after fleeing their home country. The Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program offers a way for individuals or groups to sponsor refugees, but the final decision lies with the Canadian visa officer.
There are several steps involved in the immigration process, including:
Completing the application for permanent residence in Canada.
Participating in an interview with a Canadian visa officer.
Undergoing medical tests.
Undergoing security screening.
Signing a transportation loan agreement.
While the D2D team can provide advice and assistance in understanding these steps, it is ultimately up to the Canadian visa officer to make a decision on the case.
If accepted as a refugee, you will become part of our community. As your sponsoring group, we have volunteered to help you integrate into Canadian life and become self-supporting within our community. It’s important to note that the support you receive will come from our team and not directly from the Canadian government.
